Finding Forrester

Agoraphobia is a constant internal fear of open or public places. It results in the patient being locked up inside his/her own small world. Such people fear stepping out of their homes into the outdoors. William Forrester was is one example of a person with agoraphobia. His character was portrayed in a manner suggesting that he was suffering with the condition. He rarely looked out of his window let alone step out of the door.

Jerome David Salinger is similar to William Forrester since he too was an author who wrote stories. Like William Forrester, J. D. Salinger was also a New Yorker and was only lucky enough to publish just one book due to the hardships he had faced during his career. His first book, The Catcher in the Rye caught immediate attention of the public and the media and proved to be a success.
